Record transfer of the “Seagulls”
Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly on the verge of signing Watford striker João Pedro (21) – the second-tier Championship’s most valuable player. According to the transfer expert, the fee should change Fabrizio Romano amount to almost 34 million euros, which would mean a record investment for Brighton. Accordingly, the deal is already sealed, only the official announcement is missing.
Watford, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2022, last summer rejected an offer from Newcastle United of up to €30m for the Brazilian, who has scored 11 goals in 35 second division games this season. However, these were not enough for direct resurgence.
Brighton & Hove Albion recently made two costly striker mistakes
Eighth-placed Brighton, on the other hand, are fighting for a place in the European Cup (to the Premier League table) in their remaining eight games. The rest of the program, including three catch-up games against Manchester United (May 4th), at Newcastle United (May 18th) and against Manchester City (May 24th), is tough.

Chelsea have it the hardestTo overview
Either way, the “Seagulls” are on the up and that’s despite not having a reliable clipper this season. The four center forwards Danny Welbeck (32), Evan Ferguson (18), Julio Enciso (19) and the German Deniz Undav (26) together scored only ten goals in the league. Most of the goals of coach Roberto De Zerbi’s team do not come from the nine, but from midfield or from the wingers.
3x over 25m: Brighton & Hove Albion’s most expensive exits
Brighton’s most expensive striker transfers to date even flopped: Jürgen Locadia (29, CZ Mighty Lions) came from PSV Eindhoven in 2017 for €17m and scored six goals in 46 games, while Alireza Jahanbakhsh (29) joined Alkmaar in 2018 for €19m were transferred. The Persian has scored four goals in 61 games. Young João Pedro, who was never called up for a Brazil youth team, has been proving he can deliver in English football since 2020. On January 1, 2020 he transferred from Fluminense to Watford.
