Since 1991, an average of 189 million people in developing countries have been victims of extreme weather every year. That states a report from the organization Loss & Damage Collaboration today. The report also calculates that the global fossil fuel industry made about $30 trillion (also $30 trillion) profits between 2000 and 2019, while over the same period the cost of climate damage in 55 of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries rose to $525 billion.
