Replay of the 1906 cup final ends in a true goal fest, SV RAP takes the cup

It looked like a tennis match. SV RAP Black Devils played a repeat of the cup final from 1906 against DSV Concordia from Delft this afternoon. The team from Amsterdam won 6-4.

The final between the veteran teams of RAP and the team from Delft was played on De Wageningse Berg, the stadium of the now bankrupt FC Wageningen until 1992.

RAP won the first edition of the Holdert Cup in 1899. The challenge cup, which bore the name of publisher Hak Holdert, was awarded to the cup winner until 1944. Since then, the cup has been lost, after which Concordia decided to start making replicas. That was because of their 135th anniversary.

Afterwards, KNVB chairman Just Spee and director of amateur football Jan-Dirk van der Zee took care of the distribution of the replicas. Royal HFC (winner 1904, 1913 and 1915), Ajax (1917, and 1943), RCH (1918) and VSV (1938) received a cup, among others.
