Replacement found for canceled Matterhorn descent

One of the canceled Ski World Cup runs on the Matterhorn is to be run instead in Val Gardena. The world association FIS announced this on Monday and scheduled the men’s race in the Dolomites resort for December 14th.

For the second time in a row, two runs for women and men were canceled at the planned premiere in Zermatt – last winter because of a lack of snow, this time because of strong winds and too much snowfall. The races there are considered a prestige project of the controversial FIS President Johan Eliasch.

A downhill (December 15th) and a Super-G (December 16th) were already planned in Val Gardena.
