SBS 6 has taken the fallen TV duo Frank & Rogier out of the stable again. The channel started repeating their old show Paleis voor een Prikkie yesterday. The result? A ratings explosion.
Frank Jansen and Rogier Smit are more or less the personification of faded glory. There really isn’t anyone waiting for the two of them since they started fighting out their marital crisis in a horribly vulgar way in the media. They have single-handedly ruined their careers and no viewer is looking forward to it anymore.
Bizarrely low viewership
The repeat series of Paleis voor een Prikkie started last night at prime time with 101,000 viewers and a market share of 2.7 percent. On average, SBS 6 is the third channel in the Netherlands, but during Frank & Rogier it was number eight (!). Only RTL 7 and Net5 attracted even less attention.
Tina Nijkamp, the former channel boss of SBS 6, is quite shocked by this viewership implosion. “Oof. Repeating Frank and Rogier turns out not to be a good idea. All the publicity surrounding their divorce, quarrels and the like will not have helped in terms of popularity,” she writes on her ratings juice channel.
Quick off the tube?
If Tina had still been in charge of SBS 6, she would have knocked Paleis voor een Prikkie right off the tube. If she had programmed it at all… “Palace for a Prikkie had only 101 thousand viewers and is really barely measurable in the target group 20 to 54 years old: 1.7 percent market share.”
This is simply not sustainable, Tina explains. “Next week there will be another program in its place…”
SBS 6 has had a dreary evening in any case: the early Shownieuws attracted 111 thousand viewers immediately before (3.5 percent), while Children Buy A House afterwards remained at 157 thousand viewers (5 percent).
The Smartest on one
De Slimste Mens was again the big winner of the evening with this time 1.5 million viewers (38 percent) on NPO 2. Nieuwsuur then attracted 602 thousand viewers (18 percent).
NPO 1 follows with Tussen Kunst en Kitsch, which was good for 861 thousand viewers (28 percent). Prior to that, The Great British Bake Off had 509 thousand viewers (13 percent).
RTL 4 continues to score with B&B Vol Liefde: 778 thousand people (21 percent) watched it.
Viewing figures
Programs that did not make the top 15 include Hart van Nederland (464 thousand), Shownieuws (386 thousand), 112 Today (333 thousand), Buy Without Watching (308 thousand) and Elton John Uncensored (269 thousand).
