Albert Verlinde said something more in Shownieuws about the behavior that Renze Klamer displayed behind the scenes of RTL Tonight. “Then it is not pleasant for a team to make something.”
RTL 4’s late evening has a major problem: Arjen Lubach has not delivered what was expected of him and RTL Tonight is a failed talk show where, after the departure of Renze Klamer (36), two stale and ambitionless gentlemen were left behind. Humberto Tan is already 60 years old and Beau van Erven Dorens is almost too. The breath of fresh air has gone.
‘You radiate that!’
According to Albert Verlinde, veterans Humberto and Beau will succeed. “The special thing is that the program is slowly but surely settling in a little more. You can see that the viewing figures are very slowly moving in the right direction. Every now and then it is reaching 600 thousand viewers,” he responds to the Show news-desk.
He continues: “Well, that was only dreamed of in the beginning. So everyone just keeps building. It’s very annoying of Renze, you know, that he didn’t feel comfortable in this format, but if you don’t feel it and don’t enjoy doing it, you can’t keep doing it. Then you start to radiate it.”
Not happy
Show expert Eline de Ruig finds it strange that not everything has been done to keep Renze on board. “So you didn’t all say: ‘Let’s sit around the table and see how Renze would like it.’”
Albert: “Of course that happened. Of course there was talk. I understand it from Renze too. He was doing fantastic with that talk show, that’s what he wants to create and then a different formula comes along that he doesn’t feel comfortable with. He really tried in the beginning to happy to be in.”
Not pleasant
Was it soon clear to Albert that it did not suit Renze? “Well, that was clear to everyone. That’s not pleasant for the team either. One month you work with Beau who says: ‘We’re going! We like it!’ It’s a bit like old Boulevard for him, so: ‘We’re going to do it!’ And the next month Renze is there, like: ‘I find it difficult.’”
He continues: “It is not pleasant for a team to create something. At a certain point you want clarity. That is there now.”
‘He shows up’
There is no clarity yet about Renze’s future at RTL. “I’m sure: Renze is a fantastic presenter, he will automatically appear somewhere within the channel. But it is good that everyone now knows: this is what we are doing, and you can see that in the show.”
“There is a bit more peace. A bit more glamour. You see more artists performing. It is starting to find its shape. I hope that this team can complete the match.”
