Renze Klamer hits back at the critical men of Today Inside. The RTL 4 star finds their criticism rather laughable. “There, John de Mol is being defended all the time!”
It is a regular feature in RTL 4’s late talk shows: channel stars who come to plug their new TV programme. Such an elongated promo talk is of course completely bland television, but the talk show hosts simply cannot avoid it. Renze Klamer recently had to interview his colleague Marieke Elsinga about her TV monstrosity Alles is Muziek.
Bad interview
The result? An embarrassing us-knows-us conversation without critical questions about this biggest RTL 4 flop of the past fifteen years. The men of Today Inside, especially Wilfred Genee, find that sad of Renze. “The interviewer can also say: ‘Sorry, but this wasn’t so good, was it?’”
No, Marieke was spared that. She was allowed to say that it was great fun during the recordings! Irene Moors hitting a shuffleboard like a crazy VIP? Nice everyone! Laughed so much during the recording!
Renze strikes back
Doesn’t Renze himself think that he should be a little more journalistic and a little less advertising pillar? No. In the VARA guide, he lashes out at the men of Today Inside. He says they are hypocritical.
When asked if he agrees with their criticism, Renze replies: “Well, it’s funny to get a comment like that from a table at which Johan Derksen defends John de Mol all the time. In addition: I am human and I like to stay that way.”
To rub
Renze was deliberately uncritical, he says. “What’s the point if a program doesn’t catch on to start rubbing it firmly? Everyone already feels that. I don’t feel the need to press it any further. That’s not how I’m wired.”
Bore.
