Rental apartments for young people in ‘old pharmacy’ of Roden

Young tenants looking for accommodation in Roden have been given more options. 12 apartments are being built on the old site of the Rôner Service Pharmacy on Heerestraat.

The old building is therefore being demolished and making way for houses of about 50 square meters. The pharmacy moved to the Meester Wijchgellaan in 2020.

Alderman Jos Darwinkel of the Noordenveld municipality is happy with the new place for young people. “It also fits well with the public transport hub in our village.”

The plans come from a private individual, but are in accordance with the idea of the municipality. “We want to improve the appearance of the Roner center,” says Darwinkel. “I think this fits in nicely. It also fits well with the public transport hub that we tackled not so long ago.”

A point of attention is the parking in the center. When approaching the bus stop, spots disappeared. “That has been solved on the site of the building itself,” says Darwinkel. “Partly parking is possible behind the houses.”

The plans for the building of the old pharmacy fit in with the vision of the Noordenveld municipality, in which ‘infill’ is preferred over expansion. “By that we mean that existing buildings can be transformed into living space,” concludes Darwinkel.
