The renovation of the Harm Kuiper sports park in Odoorn appears to be more expensive again. Previously, an additional one million euros was needed. The associations now need an additional 538,000 euros for the realization of the club building. The total costs for the renovation now amount to more than 4.5 million euros.
The sports park in Odoorn is currently being thoroughly renovated. Both tennis courts and football fields are being renovated. The tennis club TC Okko and football club HOVC will soon have one joint club building. Both associations contribute 350,000 euros.
This was estimated at 1.7 million euros, but now the costs appear to be more than 2.3 million euros. Inflation is causing personnel costs and the prices of building materials to rise, the municipality writes to the council. The building will also be larger due to technical installations. Furthermore, the price per square meter was calculated too low, according to the council.
According to the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, the associations themselves no longer have a budget to contribute to the construction of the club building. That is why it is asking the city council for an additional 538,000 euros. According to the municipality, postponing the renovation will result in higher costs and therefore increase the pressure on the associations. The city council will discuss the extra money on Thursday evening.
