Renny Harlin lived in New York at the time of the terrorist attacks.
Johanna and Renny Harlin return to the program in new episodes of the second season of their series The Harlins.
Today, two parts will immediately appear in the audience. In the first of them, the Harlins spend last Christmas in New York, where Renny lived in September 2001. At that time, on the 11th, a series of terrorist attacks took place. Renny has rarely spoken about his experience.
– My apartment had a view over the city. That’s where I watched, sadly, when 9/11 happened. I saw everything. The towers of the World Trade Center were directly in front of me, Renny refers to the well-known skyscraper landmark.
The twin towers were destroyed in the impact.
– I saw what is terrible to talk about, Renny recalls in a clearly moved state of mind.
Renny has lived in New York. In the series, he introduces his former hometown to his wife. MTV3
In the series, the director also reveals the decision he made.
– I made a decision that I have been thinking about for the rest of my life. Was it the right solution or not?
Renny believes that he was the closest thing to a disaster, a film director who is still alive.
– I could have grabbed my video camera, gone there and filmed everything – practically speaking, make it a documentary, a movie.
So what would have been recorded on film?
– I saw people jumping from windows and how buildings collapsed before my eyes.
However, Renny did not start filming. He simply couldn’t do it.
– I couldn’t do it. It was something so terrible.
A trip to New York can accommodate a wide range of emotions. A visit to the WTC memorial brings sadness to the surface. Spending Christmas at a friend’s family home, on the other hand, is just as much joy. MTV3

– I haven’t been here once since then. I haven’t been able to, Renny says while hugging and kissing his wife, who supports her spouse.
