Renny and Johanna say that Coco’s daughter has brought the couple closer together.
Renny, Johanna and Coco Harlin and the family dog Myy are in the hills of happiness. The family has been able to travel from America to Finland for almost two weeks in the middle of their work.
– We are just on our way first to the center of Hamina to buy vegetables at the market and after that we will travel 20 kilometers by boat to the island of Tammio, Renny tells Iltalehte by phone.
What makes the trip to Finland special is that the family celebrates Coco’s 1st birthday on the island. The official holiday is July 19.
– We get to offer Coco a wonderful island birthday and a Finnish Midsummer. It is also wonderful that he sees his grandparents and godparents here in Finland, the couple continues.
There really is plenty to do in Harlin’s life. Just a few weeks ago, the family moved from a penthouse apartment in Miami to a large house located along the canal. Johanna says that it was wonderful to spend the baby’s year in a wonderful apartment close to services, but now the whole family wanted their own peace and a yard where Coco could romp.
– We wanted a pier and we got it. This is a home suitable for a child. The home is half an hour away from where we used to live, Johanna says.
Renny dreams that next year the family will own a boat, canoes and SUP boards, because being close to the sea is the family’s “spirit hole”.
The family won’t be able to enjoy their new home for a while, because the family will be moving to New Zealand in a few weeks due to a new film project. Renny is the film’s director, Johanna works as a producer, and the soon-to-be one-year-old daughter Coco will be seen on the big screen with her mother.
– However, we have no intention of pushing Coco to become an actress. He can do what he wants! If he’s having fun on set, there’s nothing wrong with that, Renny says gently.

Renny and Johanna got married in the summer of 2021. In the couple’s relationship, there has always been enough closeness, expressions of love and sensitivity, but according to Renny, the relationship has deepened even more in the last year.
– I think our relationship is even better than it was at the time of the initial boom. The more we have gotten to know each other, to recognize even the smallest nuances of the other’s character, the stronger and closer our relationship has become, Renny opens up about his relationship with Johanna.

The family spends almost all of their time together, as Coco also accompanies her parents to shoots and work meetings. But what is Renny and Johanna’s key to a happy relationship?
– The most important thing in our relationship is that we respect each other. It wouldn’t even occur to us to say bluntly, to be cold, mean or selfish towards each other. Every moment the other person comes first and is the most important of all, then the relationship works. The main thing is that we have fun together and we wake up laughing every morning, Renny describes.
No arguments
Renny wants to emphasize that their lives also have stress and difficult moments, and their lives are not always just “dancing with roses”.
– We will get through all of that together, as a team, he adds.
Johanna complements her husband’s words by stating that they are happy together and think positively about things.
– It is often said that the partners of a couple complement each other and are opposites of each other, but that is not the case with us. The thing about us is that we are really similar and it works. We have similar values and thoughts in life, Johanna reflects.
The couple says that they don’t fight, swear or speak meanly to each other in their home. Instead, Coco wants to see kissing and closeness and love between people.
In the daily life of small children and in the midst of busy work, the couple takes care of their relationship with weekly date nights. There may be, for example, a movie night, a restaurant dinner or other activities where Renny and Johanna can talk alone and enjoy each other’s company.

Johanna has always known that she wants to become a mother. Coco has fulfilled all her dreams, but motherhood has also surprised her.
– I am surprised by how great love for one’s own child can be. Somehow I thought I could imagine that amount of love, but I was wrong. She would do anything for her own child, Johanna says gently.
– I’m not interested in my own things as much as before, Johanna continues.
Johanna has wanted to stick to one thing in her motherhood. She wants to be in primary responsibility for her child herself and not give childcare responsibility to, for example, an au pair or a nanny.
– We have changed the diapers ourselves, cooked the meals, washed the clothes and agreed on the schedules.

The parents say that Coco has been an extremely easy child, for which they are very grateful. They describe their one-year-old daughter as a creative, natural, humorous and empathetic little person. Coco has also learned to say “thank you” in Swedish after eating.
Renny says that Coco’s baby years were mentally challenging for her, especially in the early days. This was influenced by the work project and the fact that Renny was not able to be as present in Coco’s first months as he would have liked.

– We are so in love with Coco that we miss her even at night! Johanna and I go to the next room at night to watch our sleeping child, Renny reveals.
The couple has said publicly on several occasions that they dream of more children. This dream is still in the family, and little by little the idea is also relevant.
– There is not much we can do about it, but we hope for it soon, Johanna reflects hopefully about the couple’s second child together.
