In a constantly evolving world, the search for sustainable and energy efficient solutions has become a global priority. Fusión Eléctrica de México was born in 2010 in La Ventosa, Oaxaca, to meet the growing demand for services in electromechanical works in wind farms in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region. Currently, the company has offices in Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca, and in Mexico City, with a team of more than 250 highly trained people with extensive experience in the sector.
Fusión Eléctrica’s quality philosophy and experience have allowed it to become a leader in the execution of civil, electromechanical and telecommunications works for low and medium voltage collector networks, as well as substations and transmission lines in renewable projects, both wind and solar.
Thus, Fusión Eléctrica de México, a company that has emerged as a benchmark in the renewable energy industry, both wind and solar, plays a crucial role in the transformation of the energy landscape in Latin America and arrives in Argentina with the help of its Managing Partner, Nicolás Parreira, with a clear mission: to directly reduce dependence and consumption of imported gas, LNG and liquid fuels. “Until 2023 we have consolidated our position as a leading company in the field of creating BOPs in the wind market by participating in the largest wind farms in Mexico such as Parque Eólico Reynosas (387.5 MW), Parque Eólico Istmeño, as well known as Eólica del Sur (396 MW), El Mezquite Wind Park (250 MW), Dolores Wind Park (244 MW), PIER IV Wind Park (74 MW), as well as the La Amistad Wind Park projects (200 MW), Salitrillos Wind Farm (103 MW), La Bufa Wind Farm (130 MW), to mention a few. In 2017 we entered the photovoltaic sector with the construction of the Camargo Photovoltaic Park (30 MW), in Chihuahua, to later participate in the construction of the Villanueva Photovoltaic Park, the largest on the American continent (750 MW), in the state of Coahuila. Already in 2018, we continued with the construction of the Solem I Solar Park (180 MW) in El Llano, Aguascalientes; La Laguna Solar Park (30 MW), in Tlahuila, Durango. And the AT SOLAR & TUTO II SOLAR & parks (317.5 MW), in Puerto Libertad, in Sonora. In 2019 we continued with the execution of the TULI & HELIOS photovoltaic park (380 MW) and the Guajiro photovoltaic park (129 MW),” lists Nicolás Parreira.
– What was the decisive factor that led you, as a financial advisor, to get involved in the renewable energy sector, and how do you think your financial skills add value to this industry?
Over the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of working as a financial advisor, an experience that has given me a deep understanding of the world of finance and investing. Throughout my career, I have learned the importance of making informed and strategic decisions to maximize value for both my clients and the companies I advise. My decision to join Fusión Eléctrica in Argentina as managing partner is based on my desire to apply my financial experience in a dynamic and challenging business environment. Fusion Electrica is not just a company; It is an exciting project that has the potential to transform the electricity sector in the region. The company’s innovative vision, combined with its commitment to sustainable development, has motivated me to be part of this exciting journey.
– What are the relevant indicators and statistics about the development of renewable energy sources in Argentina?
In 2017, renewable sources represented only 2% of the electricity system in Argentina, but by 2021, they had reached 13%. In April 2023, this percentage reached 14.8%. The objective, according to a report by IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency), is that two thirds of the energy produced in 2050 comes from renewable sources, which implies that approximately 85% of the installed capacity should be from renewable sources. This translates into a challenge of almost 2,000 MW of renewable energy to be installed per year.
– What benefits are derived from this generation of renewable energy in our country?
To satisfy domestic demand, Argentina must import fuels from different markets, and in this context, the commitment to renewable energies is widely beneficial to reduce the country’s need for foreign currency. Wind energy generation directly reduces dependence and consumption of imported gas, LNG and liquid fuels. During 2023, according to the Argentine Wind Chamber (CEA), the generation produced by wind will generate savings in foreign currency of 1,838 million dollars, lower fiscal costs in subsidies of 896 million dollars and a reduction in the cost of generation of 6.1 dollars per MWh. The commitment to renewable energies will definitely contribute to the country’s economy and will reduce dependence on imported fuels with all the benefits that this entails.
– What are the services you offer?
Our services include different aspects. From the construction of BoP (Balance of Plant) in wind, solar and industrial plants; construction of low and medium voltage networks, from civil works to electrical works, including assembly and connection of cells and transformers; construction of BoS (Balance of System) in solar plants; assembly and interconnection of panels, as well as all their components (trays, pipes, combiners boxes), laying and connection of low and medium voltage cables; assembly of cells, excavation of trenches for medium voltage networks with the best machinery on the market; construction of fiber optic networks in wind, solar and industrial plants; construction of transmission lines, among many other services.
With its proven experience and innovative approach, Fusión Eléctrica is at the forefront of the energy revolution in Argentina. “We pride ourselves on actively contributing to building a world powered by renewable energy. With each project we carry out, we take firm steps towards a more sustainable and energy efficient future. We are committed, not only to the present, but also to future generations, working tirelessly to create a positive impact on the environment and the communities we serve. At Fusión Eléctrica, we not only generate energy, but we also cultivate a better world. We work tirelessly contributing to building a world of renewable energies,” concludes Nicolás Parreira.
