The huge showbiz conflict between René van der Gijp and Maarten van Rossem will be continued. The jury member of De Slimste Mens was really completely sawn off at the ankles in Today Inside.
For years there has been a serious conflict between the viewing figure guns René van der Gijp and Maarten van Rossem. It all started when the jury member of De Slimste Mens was a guest at VI Oranje in 2012 and was severely beaten by René. Since then Maarten no longer wants to join the men of VI; he boycotts their program.
canal belt snob
Maarten’s last sneer at René dates from last May, when he called the football analyst infantile. Yesterday René hit back hard at Maarten. The reason? His performance at HLF8. Maarten indicated that he was very reluctant to sit at that talk show table.
René: “I hate few people, Wilfred. I already told you that last time. Tim Hofman is one and then I have another one and that annoyed me so much yesterday. That’s that Maarten van Rossem. I find that such a terrible canal belt snob.”
“Go on, go away!”
Maarten’s HLF8 performance has caused great annoyance to René. “He then sits at that HLF8 and then tells them that he doesn’t like it and that he doesn’t really think he belongs there. He’s there and then I think: you said: ‘Hup, go away!’”
Wilfred Genee: “I did ask, ‘Why are you here then?’ I don’t know how it went.”
Hélène Hendriks: “That was also asked.”
Johan Derksen: “Yes, he has a theater show that needs to be sold.”
René: “Sad, super sad. This is so sad.”
dedain
Johan understands René’s criticism. “He looks down on all the table companions with disdain, you know. He would never sit there if he didn’t have something to sell, because a few hours later he was at Op1, you know. He’s just selling his merchandise.”
He continues: “Unlike René, I don’t dislike him and I have also worked with him on occasion – he is quite a nice man and I have also been at his home, it is quite pleasant – but if he is in the picture he always has a casual act. Other than him, everyone is a dumbass.”
brain
René: “He always shouts about me like: ‘Yes, he has one brain cell’, and so on, but that’s because I met him once in Scheveningen… I tackled him there once.”
Why did he treat Maarten like that? “Before the break he was going to berate our audience, saying: ‘There you are with your orange shirt on and your orange clogs on your head. They should see you sitting like this at home. What is this about? It’s ridiculous if you sit there like that, isn’t it?’”
“Then I thought to myself: those people can’t say anything back, then you’re going to get it too. That is again from a kind of looking down on that he was going to insult our audience. I don’t like that at all. It never got better.”
