Roxane Knetemann spoke on Tuesday evening in Today Inside about an annual moment that is difficult for her, namely the death day of her famous father Gerrie Knetemann. “Tomorrow it will be eighteen years since your father Gerrie passed away, right?” Host Wilfred Genee asked her.

‘That’s great, man!’

Wilfred’s question was answered in the affirmative by Roxane. “Tomorrow?” René van der Gijp then asks.

Roxane: “Tomorrow, yes.”

René gives Roxane a pat on the back. “Yes, beautiful man. Then Theo van Gogh too, huh?”

Roxane reacts bewildered. “That’s great, man? haha. What are you saying?”

René uneasy: “No, no, no, but eighteen years ago, man.”

‘He means well’

There is some discomfort at the table. Johan Derksen: “He means well.”

Roxane: “Yeah, I know. I think René is a good guest.”

Wilfred: “I try to make it a serious moment, but ‘nice man’. haha.”

Roxane: “I’ve been a bit off my feet for a few days and tomorrow is just the worst day of the year.”

René: “How old were you?”

Roxane: “Seventeen.”

René: “My son lost his mother when he was fourteen.”

Straighten up

So René came back to that uncomfortable end of the night before last night. “May I just set one thing straight? I said to the girl Roxane yesterday from uh… What did I say? “Nice man,” or something. But that came after you announced. I wasn’t there anymore. I didn’t hear what you said at all.”

Johan: “Yes, but, René, that didn’t come across as wrong.”

René: “I didn’t hear what he said at all.”

Johan: “No, that’s right.”

Job Knoester: “That was very clear.”

René: “I didn’t hear what he said.”

‘Do not worry’

Job: “Don’t worry about it. That was very clear.”

Johan: “That’s a safe word from you.”

René: “I didn’t hear what he was talking about at all.”

Job: “That was very clear.”

Johan: “And she understood it herself.”
