As the wife of the wealthy René van der Gijp, Minouche van der Gijp has plenty of time on her hands and she uses it to awareness to create the heartbreaking situation in Gaza, where suffering continues. She posts up to twenty every day stories with the most horrible photos and videos from the war zone, many of them involving children.

Big Christmas party

While her digital life revolves entirely around the suffering in Gaza – according to her, there is genocide there – in everyday life she can still occasionally be found at a party. She recently also went to Ziggo Dome with the men from VI, although there she started to argue with a journalist who did not share her views.

Now Minouche amazes with all kinds of hysterically cozy Christmas photos and videos. Last night she and René went out for dinner with a whole group of friends and family, namely at the expensive restaurant Encore by Simonis in Scheveningen. They ate meat, fish and vegetables there at a lavishly laid table.

Stark contrast

All those pleasant Christmas images are in stark contrast to her war reporting. Does Minouche feel okay about that? No, she does emphasize that afterwards she really left with mixed feelings. “It felt very strange to celebrate Christmas with what is currently happening in Gaza,” she wrote afterwards Instagram.

She continues: “Contrary to the fact that many people say that you have to get on with your life and do things, it still doesn’t feel okay to me. I work on it every day (remotely) and never before has injustice affected me so strongly.”

Peace on earth

Minouche immediately started her war reporting again last night, after Christmas dinner. “Christmas is about peace on earth and being together with the people you love, while that is so far away in Gaza.”

She concludes: “I can only hope that this will also come to Gaza very soon. Until then, I will continue to harass people intensively with my posts until everyone realizes that what is happening there really has to stop.”
