The carnival singer René le Blanc is so successful that he has to beg for invitations to the red carpet. And yet he feels too good to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, the most watched music festival on our continent. He feels that he has already come so far in his career that singing in front of a professional jury is going too far for him.

Rene doesn’t want to

René would receive an eventual invitation from the AvroTros – no one would be surprised; After all, Cornald Maas and his companions have completely lost their way – turn off. “I would never want to participate myself,” he says in the weekly magazine Weekend.

He continues: “I do my own thing and don’t want to be judged by a jury, because I still see it as a kind of talent show and I don’t feel like it at all. That belongs to the distant past.”

‘It’s different’

However, René is prepared, with all his status, to criticize the current entry Mia & Dion. “I don’t like the song very much at all. It’s different, I have to get used to it. It’s not my style of music.”

No Fortunately not. If we send in something that is René’s taste, then the turnips are already completely cooked. “I have nothing to do with the Eurovision Song Contest anyway. I think they are all such strange entries.”

Weird dances

René thinks it’s one big fair. And he should know. “It used to be really about singing, but now people dress up, they wear strange clothes, they do strange dances, they paint themselves. Then I think: this is no longer the Eurovision Song Contest for me.”

Finally about Mia & Dion: “I wish them all the success, but it hasn’t gone well again, so I’m holding my breath. We are not even going to make the top ten.”
