René Froger gets a kick from Marcel & Gijs, Angela de Jong refuses

René Froger gets a kick from the TV duo Marcel van Roosmalen and Gijs Groenteman: they found him too superficial in their show. Meanwhile, Angela de Jong drops out as a potential guest.

Marcel van Roosmalen and Gijs Groenteman are not exactly popular as a TV duo. And now, in the spirit of Today Inside, they are also starting to berate their own guests. But somehow it says that the successful men of VI are better than a duo that scores rather mediocre ratings…

‘Not enough depth’

Gijs asks in the Marcel & Gijs yesterday how his buddy looks back on the week opener with one of the country’s most famous singers: “How did you like it yesterday with René Froger?”

Marcel: “Get used to it. Very direct Amsterdam. I’m glad we’re taking a different turn tonight. A little more depth with a real intellectual: Sander Schimmelpenninck. (…) I actually always agree with him. That is refreshing. He hates all the people I hate too.”

Ah, so they don’t think René has enough depth. Gijs in his podcast: “Yes, I think the Talpa colleagues were very happy with René Froger and Caroline van der Plas of course.

Angela doesn’t want to

In any case, Angela de Jong cannot lend herself to Marcel & Gijs, she says in the AD Media podcast. She was asked for last Tuesday’s episode, when Britt Dekker suddenly canceled. “I said what I also said to VI: ‘I’ll look at how you develop and what the intention is and what the format is and whether I’m in the right place there at all.’”

It is possible that Angela is mainly invited so that they can piss her off; there is no one who insults Angela more often than Marcel, to the point of obsession. “If I feel like I’m just in my place there and my opinion is seriously asked about a television program or something, then it’s fine. I’m not going to worry about the filling of the image.”

record low

Anyway: yesterday Sander Schimmelpenninck was a guest at Marcel & Gijs. 378 thousand people (10.5 percent market share) watched it. a record low, writes ratings expert Tina Nijkamp. “Sander Schimmelpenninck was never really a viewing figure magnet with VI, so not with Marcel and Gijs either.”

Eva Jinek laughs hard at the poor scores of the VI replacements: she completely revives and this time ends up with 702 thousand viewers (26 percent). “But especially in the target group aged 25 to 54 a mega score: 32.3 percent market share. Wow, that is really very high for a talk show.”
