With his appearance in the talk show Marcel & Gijs, René Froger arouses annoyance with Harriët Duurvoort, a well-known columnist for de Volkskrant. “I’ll just leave again.”
Not only René Froger, but also Caroline van der Plas was in the week opener of Marcel & Gijs last night. Host Marcel van Roosmalen thinks that the politician makes a lot of fuss about a ‘small group’ of farmers, but René does have her sympathy. “It is a very small group, but a group that is just a bit forced.”
Harriet is annoyed
Volkskrant columnist Harriët Duurvoort also watched and felt annoyed. “I fall into Marcel & Gijs, never seen before. A babbling chatter with Kerrelain. ‘How your life has changed. Did you ever think this?’ René Froger: ‘The next Prime Minister of the Netherlands!’ I’ll just go away again.” tweets she.
Harriët is not only critical of René, but also of hosts Gijs Groenteman and Marcel. “Tip for the gentlemen: one critical question about the heat stress of cattle.”
‘A waste of your time’
Other viewers think that Caroline was kept short. For example, one Aaltje tweets: “I would not go to Marcel and Gijs again, a waste of your time. You barely got the floor, which was probably their intention. I’m not going to watch it again anyway, it was the low point tonight.”
Ankie is pissed too. “What a stupid couple Marcel & Gijs are. Caroline shouldn’t have sat there. Not a moment is listened to and they have no idea what our farmers are going through.”
Meager score
Despite the excellent line-up, Marcel & Gijs managed to entertain ‘only’ 405 thousand viewers (11 percent market share), which is a bit disappointing according to ratings expert Tina Nijkamp. “The upward trend in viewing figures has stopped. On Friday, 420 thousand viewers watched,” she writes.
She continues: “But especially in the target group 25 to 54 years old, it is a shock and the show has the lowest market share to date: 8.5 percent. René Foger turns out not to be Henk Westbroek or Victoria Koblenko. And why does Marcel stay in the middle and the guests just don’t sit next to each other? Isn’t that better for interaction?”
