Former Chairman of the International Hockey Federation IIHF Rene Fasel has got jobs from Russia.

Fasel will continue to work for KHL. He is involved in the development and strategic work of the Eastern League.

– Fasel has a huge variety of experience and expertise in hockey. He is actively involved in solving strategic problems related to the development of KHL, KHL informed Allhockey.ru: n and according to RIA Novost.

Fasel’s job at KHL was marveled at in Russia as early as Wednesday, when the Russian Sport-Express reported on the subject.

– It is not clear why KHL hired the former chairman of the IIHF. There is no real reason to hire a Swiss. Now there is no need to talk about extending the league to the west, the reporter said Alexei Shevtshenko writes in amazement.

Fasel has long been close to KHL, Russia and the president Vladimir Putinia. The Swiss boss led the International Hockey Federation from 1994 to 2021.

French Luc Tardif replaced Fasel last year. Fasel, for his part, was elected honorary chairman of the IIHF.

Under the Tardif, the IIHF imposed sanctions on Russia, which invaded Ukraine. Fasel criticized the actions, saying it was a “gloomy day for the IIHF”.
