Removed from the selection three times, but FC Volendam gives Bilal Ould-Chikh a new chance

In mid-April, Ould-Chikh was suspended for the remainder of the season for disciplinary reasons from the selection put. Director of football affairs Jasper van Leeuwen then indicated that a solution that is best for both parties would be looked at in the summer. The player’s contract runs until mid-2025.

“Bilal has to learn from his mistakes,” says Van Leeuwen now. He does not want to comment specifically on the behavior of the 25-year-old footballer. “It’s little things that pile up with him and then the irritation grows. He has to learn to deal with that, because as Wim (Jonk, ed.) Says: ‘This is professional football’. Bilal has to show what he can do again and still better, because he’s a golden boy.”

At the beginning of March, a scoring Ould-Chikh against FC Emmen showed how he can be of value to FC Volendam, while he also has another side. “I’m a boy with an opinion, quite direct. I say what comes to mind.”

“Hot-tempered Type”

Trainer Wim Jonk also spoke out about Ould-Chikh after that match. “Of course he is a bit of a hot-tempered type who finds it difficult to deal with pressure and a certain tension.”

Mercenaries

The Inter mercenaries Filip Stankovic and Gaetano Oristanio and Franco Antonucci, borrowed from Feyenoord, will not be on the field in Volendam on July 3. As long as there is no new agreement, they will return to their actual employer. In addition, Oristanio is still on vacation, because he only dropped out at the last minute for the final selection of Young Italy.

Conversely, Koen Blommestijn, loaned to Telstar, returns to FC Volendam. Due to a lingering injury, the stay in Velsen-Zuid was not what the attacker had expected in advance.

Trainer Mike Snoei put Blommestijn in the base eight times and gave him five raids. His goal tally was stuck at two hits. Because Blommestijn is still recovering from an operation, he is not on the training field either.

On paper, the Eredivisionist already has a large selection for next season. Although it is not certain whether all players who have played themselves in the spotlight will remain. In particular, captain Carel Eiitng looks good.

Van Leeuwen: “There is undoubtedly interest, but I don’t know anything else.” With a serious offer from an interested club, FC Volendam will also start talking.

“Carel came to Volendam with the idea that Volendam is a springboard. It would therefore be strange if we block a transition. Only the conditions are very important. And we don’t know when it will happen. I hope not next season,” said Van Leeuwen.

Acquisitions

FC Volendam has not yet attracted new players. Van Leeuwen does not expect reinforcements to be presented in the short term. “That also has to do with the departures. Although of course we still need a keeper. Whether it is Stankovic who stays or another keeper. And James is gone in the left back position. So you look: ‘what if Murkin leaves ?'”
