Remembrance Day and Liberation Day on RTV Drenthe

Today, on May 4, RTV Drenthe will broadcast the Remembrance Day at the National Monument in Westerbork live. The broadcast starts on TV at 7:15 PM. The radio broadcast will start at 7.30 pm.

During the commemoration, Holocaust survivors Ronald Waterman and Zoni Weisz speak. Soprano Channa Malkin sings songs from the Rocking the Child and Zwarte Bloemen cycles. The commemoration program begins with a silent march. Spectators are welcome again for the first time since the corona crisis. The organization expects about 5,000 people.

Tomorrow, May 5, Drenthe will celebrate the Liberation. The largest liberation event in Drenthe is the Liberation Festival at the Baggelhuizerplas in Assen. RTV Drenthe reporters Robbert Oosting and Esmée Söllner walk around there and report live.

In a special radio broadcast from 12.00 to 18.00 we regularly switch to the festival site and you can enjoy the party there. Images of this can be seen live on TV Drenthe. We will also report on the festival from 3 p.m. to midnight via the social media channels Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

Nationally and regionally known artists such as Susan and Freek, The Cool Quest, The Partysquad, De Hofnar and Billy de Kit will perform at the festival all day long. Drenthe singer-songwriter Jason Staal opens the festival.
