Remarkable goalkeeper problem at Telstar: El Ouazzane falls out for the second time

It is not going well for the Telstar keepers this season. First goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr. was missing against VVV Venlo due to an injury and his replacement Abdel El Ouazzane was unable to continue after more than an hour of play. The reason: wrong nutrition during rest. “I couldn’t function properly anymore.”

A very sour evening for falling goalkeeper Abdel El Ouazzaen

The forced substitution of El Ouazzane was very inconvenient, because coach Andries Jonker was able to change one less field player. “This contributes to the loss of points.” Telstar lost 3-2 to VVV-Venlo in Limburg-North.

Trevor Doornbusch

The goalkeeper problem is symbolic of the many physical setbacks Telstar has to deal with this season. One period it is injuries and a little later the White Lions have to deal with many corona infections or a flu wave. “I’ve never really experienced this.” The last part against VVV was Trevor Doornbusch under the crossbar. And he has also played the necessary matches as the third goalkeeper.

Second time

For El Ouazzane, this was the second time he had to leave the field early. Earlier this season, that happened at home against FC Volendam (1-5). Then an injury was the cause.

It is still unclear how long Koeman Jr. will be injured, but El Ouazzane said he will be available again next Friday. Telstar then plays at home against FC Eindhoven.
