Chairman Jan Smit has suspended Frans ten Berge, business director of FC Volendam. Very surprising, because Smit himself is facing dismissal. It is also strange because the former commercial director of C&A was appointed by Smit in February.
The unrest is enormous at the moment. On the field, but certainly at an administrative level. Earlier this week, Jan Smit himself announced that he and the three other board members would be dismissed. There is a scheduled meeting tomorrow where the resignation of the entire board will be ratified.
The marriage between FC Volendam and Frans ten Berge lasted only ten months. While Smit said in February that he was convinced that Ten Berge was the right man in the right place.
“General dysfunction in his portfolios,” a spokesperson for FC Volendam said about Ten Berge’s dismissal. “And he is not open to the club about matters that are essential for good management.”
