Relieved AZ has achieved its first goal: “But we want to continue as group head”

AZ finally knows what winning is after three defeats in a row. The 2-1 victory at FC Vaduz brought quite a bit of relief on the Alkmaar side. “It was a small success, but the job is not completely done yet. We are through, but want to finish as group head,” says trainer Pascal Jansen.

Sliding ban Kerkez

Milos Kerkez played a major role in securing the victory yesterday. The 18-year-old left back scored the opening goal. “He is developing well,” says Jansen about the Hungarian, who is still not allowed to make sliding tackles during training at AZ.

FC Volendam

AZ will receive a visit from FC Volendam on Sunday. The Volendam team often missed the victory in the Eredivisie and will be extra keen on a result against AZ. Despite the fact that the Volendammers have never won in Alkmaar. “Volendam is a footballing team with quite a few qualities,” says Jansen about Volendam, which dangles at the bottom of the Eredivisie with six points.
