Thursday was the day of truth: thousands of high school students found out if they had passed their final exams.
Lynn Bastiaanse from Landgraaf can fly the flag: around 2:15 pm she received good news from her mentor Frank Otten of Eijkhagen College.

Passed
The teacher speaks to all his VMBO students personally via a video connection. He is satisfied: 86 percent of the students passed. The others get a second chance to improve their results. No one has failed yet.
Corona
Thanks to the corona pandemic, it was a difficult period for many secondary school students, Otten knows. “I’m glad we were able to go to school for a long time. Hopefully it’s a way back to normal.” His student Lynn says he didn’t notice much. “But you get an extra resit, which gives a little less stress.”
Final exams
In total, more than 10,000 Limburg students took part in the final exams this year. At VMBO there were more than 5,100, at HAVO almost 2,900 and at VWO more than 2,100. Students of VMBO framework and basis will receive the results next Wednesday.
What is now on the agenda for the successful Lynn? She continues her studies: “Next year the havo, and then in two years’ time final exam, hopefully!”
