Relegation – Kaiserslautern wrestles Dresden and rises to league two – 2. Bundesliga – football

Dynamo and Coach Guerino Capretti cope with a severe failure: Yannick Stark twisted his ankle and had to go out injured after just under half an hour. However, Dresden did not let its fighting line be dissuaded and followed up: Königsdörffer only hit the side netting after a nice solo.

2nd half: Not many chances to score – until the 59th minute.

After the break, the game continued to intensify, but there were few clear scoring chances. But then the Lauterers came along: After a corner kick, Boyd rose to head the ball, Kevin Broll in the home side’s box parried the dangerous attempt with a lightning reflex. But only a few seconds later Dynamo was shocked.

During a quick advance, Marlon Ritter served Mike Wunderlich after a 60-metre sprint diagonally across the pitch, but he quickly put the ball down and put Daniel Hanslik in position. His shot from the left-hand position hit the bottom left, Broll could only put his fingertips on the ball.

Dynamo throws everything in…

The goal put the home team behind – but it wasn’t strong enough to discourage them: Substitute Panagiotis Vlachodimos tested Lautern goalkeeper Matheo Raab with a long-range shot, Daferner wanted to use the rebound, and Raab reacted again (63′). Borello missed (69′), Oliver Batista-Meier shot a free kick over the crossbar (72′).

In the final phase, goal scenes were exchanged in close rhythm on both sides. Boyd missed the huge chance to make it 2-0 for Lautern (83′), Raab cleared in great danger against the highly gifted Vlachodimos (86′). In the 90th minute, Christoph Daferner missed from about 18 meters.

… also firecrackers

After the visitors’ second goal, the Dresden fans threw many of the firecrackers they had brought with them onto the pitch, meaning that referee Daniel Siebert didn’t start the game for several minutes after the goal was scored. The game was called off ten minutes late, and 1. FC Kaiserslautern’s promotion was perfect. And it should also be noted that many Dresden fans remained in the stadium as peaceful observers during the exuberant celebration of the winners. A football festival came to an end, in which this time the home team left the field and the league as losers.
