Relegated – After the vaccination card scandal: Dresden before the beginning of the obligation

Dresden (AP) – After the scandal because of the use of a fake vaccination card, coach Markus Anfang is about to return to professional football.

According to information from the German Press Agency, third division club Dynamo Dresden is about to sign the 47-year-old. The contract between the two parties only has to be confirmed by the bodies of the association. “Kicker” and “Bild” had previously reported on the interest of the Saxons in the coach.

The former Bundesliga professional resigned as coach of the then second division team Werder Bremen in November 2021 after the public prosecutor’s office had initiated investigations into him and his assistant coach Florian Junge because of the use of fake vaccination cards. Because the fake certificate showed that Beginning and Young had been vaccinated twice against the corona virus, both of them no longer took part in Werder’s prescribed corona tests from early autumn.

The district court in Bremen later sentenced him to a fine totaling 36,000 euros, the sports court of the German Football Association banned him as a coach for a year and suspended this sentence on probation from June 10th.

In March, Beginning showed remorse in the “Bild am Sonntag” and the ZDF “Sportstudio” and expressed hope for a future in professional football. “Of course you want a person to get a second chance, but I can’t wait for that,” he said a good two months ago.

Together with the current sports director of the Dresdner, Ralf Becker, promotion to the third division with Holstein Kiel was successful at the beginning of the 2016/2017 season. After that, the north Germans came up trumps and only missed the leap into the Bundesliga in the relegation against VfL Wolfsburg.
