Release date for new album “Memento Mori”

Depeche Mode have indirectly announced the long-awaited release date for their new album “Memento Mori” – the record will be released on March 24th. This is revealed by new posters that have been hung in several major European cities, reported Depeche Mode Monument. However, the date has not yet been officially confirmed by the band and their label.

It also says that the track “Ghosts Again” is now available. The single was originally announced for February 3rd, but will be released six days later. In the run-up, Depeche Mode had published a countdown that made fans look forward to the date with anticipation. After the ad expired, however, a second countdown followed, much to the annoyance of many.

The posters now suggest that there was a technical issue that led to the double countdown. They also refute previous reports that “Memento Mori” will be released on March 17th. Fans speculate that the band didn’t want to release their album at the same time as U2’s new record. The Irish rock band announced “Songs of Surrender” for the same day.

The forthcoming album is Depeche Mode’s first release since the death of founding member Andrew Fletcher. The Latin title, which translates to “Be Aware of Your Mortality,” was in place before Fletcher’s passing. “The title sounds very morbid, but you can also see it in a very positive way. Live the day to the fullest, that’s how we interpret it,” said Martin Gore.
