Today will be a tough and fraught day for the relatives of Carlo Heuvelman from Waddinxveen. His parents and girlfriend make use of the right to speak in the court of Lelystad. In July last year Carlo was killed by nightlife on Mallorca.
It is the first time that Carlo Heuvelman’s next of kin are virtually face to face with the nine Hilversum young men suspected of the violence, and especially with the three main suspects suspected of Carlo’s manslaughter.
It is not yet clear what the parents and girlfriend will say exactly, but it is expected that their speeches will become very emotional. The trial of the suspects in their son’s death undoubtedly brings back much of what they had to go through more than a year ago.
Other victims
In addition to Carlo’s parents and girlfriend, other victims of the nightlife violence will also have their say today, says Edwin Bosch, the lawyer for the next of kin. They do that with a joint statement.
