When Rein Smit woke up this morning, he probably didn’t think he would score a hat-trick against MVV. The Telstar striker listened to his first basic place of the season tonight with three wonderful goals. “It was my goal”
“I heard yesterday after training that I was going to play. Mike Snoei said that I had been doing well lately. The trainer wanted to reward me with a starting place”, Smit said after the 5-3 victory.
“The ball goes home. It gets a nice spot”
The 22-year-old Castricummer was particularly pleased with his second goal. “I liked that one the best, yes. I got it right from Christos Giousis. I held back once and then just shot,” said Smit, who hit hard on both his second and third goal. “The ball goes home. It gets a nice spot. I think in my room”

Due to a suspension of Mike Snoei, Uli Landvreugd was standing in front of Telstar’s dug-out today. The assistant was delighted to see that the White Lions often found the net against MVV. “The good thing was that there was energy forward. It really splashed off today. Then everything is right in such a competition,” said Landvreugd.
To grow
The 51-year-old Landvreugd sees that something beautiful is emerging at Telstar. “We are a bit further this year in some aspects. If we had been a bit more lucky at the start of the season, we could have been a bit higher. But I think we are now where we should be. We are currently filling the just good at it.”
