Rehm successor found: Capretti new coach at FC Ingolstadt

Initiate a “positive trend reversal”.

One day after the separation from Rüdiger Rehm, FC Ingolstadt presented a new coach. Guerino Capretti is now on the sidelines at the third division, as the FCI announced on Wednesday. Capretti was most recently with Dynamo Dresden, where his contract ended automatically after relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga. The 40-year-old had scored an average of 0.58 points from twelve games with the Saxons. Before that, he spent almost five years at SC Verl, where he stood on the sidelines 180 times.

“When looking for a new coach for our club, the focus was not only on passion for football but also on determination in this very challenging and intense league. Guerino Capretti has demonstrated both in his five years at SC Verl,” said sports director Malte Metzelder. “Rino has established Verl in German professional football and convinced with his active and offensive style of play. He also has the courage and ability to promote players with potential and young talents. Together with him we want to experience success for our club again.”

Capretti added: “I had very good talks with those responsible at the FCI and I am very keen to initiate the positive trend reversal from today. It is important to attack up front with hard work, joy and energy in order to achieve the goals we have set in the end – together with the players, the staff, all employees in the club and last but not least our fans.” In the current season, the “Schanzer” commuted in the 3rd league between positions one and eight in the table, he is currently in seventh place.
