Due to sudden severe weather in Curaçao, the rehabilitation of the Curaçao resistance hero Tula was canceled last night. The organizers of the official program have decided to move the ceremony to Wednesday, October 4, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM local time in Curaçao.
The ceremony will be held at the location where Tula was executed, behind Fort Amsterdam in Willemstad. State Secretary Alexandra van Huffelen will give a speech in which she will announce the formal rehabilitation on behalf of the Netherlands. The rehabilitation of Tula is one of the commitments following Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s apology on behalf of the government on December 19, 2022.
