There is a major shortage of homes in Zoetermeer, and an excess of empty office spaces. That is why vacant office buildings are being converted into (temporary) rental and owner-occupied homes.

Construction started

This is also the case at Bredewater 24 in the Meerzicht district. This white, vacant office building is now being converted into 65 living spaces intended for young people. The work will be completed around the end of August and Young Housing BV will start viewings. The first tenants will receive the key at the beginning of September.

Temporary rental housing

The office building on the Bredewater is located in the future new residential area De Entree. The start of the first construction work is still pending. Since the housing shortage is now high, the municipality is looking for temporary solutions, such as converting empty buildings into residential complexes.

For the tenants at Bredewater 24, this means that the 65 apartments are available for a maximum of three years. Young Housing BV indicates that they encourage tenants to look for permanent accommodation in the meantime.

Shared living areas

The rental price of a room, which averages 40 m2, is between 650 and 780 euros, including gas, water, light and internet. Your room is a large space that you can decorate yourself. You share the shared kitchen, bathroom, toilets, laundry room and sitting room with your fellow residents. Young Housing BV takes care of the design, equipment and furnishings.
