Regina Bouius-Riemersma will become general director of the National Coordinator Groningen with effect from 1 September 2022.

National Coordinator Groningen (NCG) stands for the reinforcement task in Groningen. It is our goal to provide people in Groningen with clarity within a clear timeframe whether their premises in the earthquake zone meet the applicable safety standard. If that is not the case, we will reinforce these buildings within agreed frameworks and deadlines, so that Groningen residents can live, work and go to school safely in the earthquake area. NCG works together with governments, social organizations and companies to ensure the safety of Groningen residents in the earthquake area. Our ambition is to ensure that residents of Groningen have clarity by 2023 at the latest whether their premises meet the safety standard and that all necessary reinforcements have been completed by 2028 in consultation with municipalities, residents and owners.

Gerdine Keijzer-Baldé, Deputy Secretary-General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate: “We are pleased with the appointment of the new General Director. Regina has a lot of experience in leading organizations where important decisions in the lives of people are concerned. In addition, she has gained a lot of experience in public-private partnerships and she knows the region well. From that experience she can add a lot to the major task of NCG for the region.”

Regina Bouius-Riemersma about her new position: “The work of NCG can always count on great social and political interest. This dynamic and complex environment requires that NCG as an organization is reliable and result-oriented. At the same time, NCG’s work is meaningful with direct contact with residents and organizations affected in the earthquake area; it really is people’s work. I look forward to shaping this important and responsible task together with colleagues from NCG and all parties involved. Reinforcing a home can be a radical process for residents As an NCG, we bridge the distance with the resident by listening, tuning in and addressing each other. In this position I can contribute to an effective and fair reinforcement operation, with an eye for the human dimension.”

Bouius-Riemersma has been working as provincial secretary and general director of the province of Fryslân since 2017. Previously, Regina worked as director at the UMCG, chief director of implementation at DUO, also deputy director general, director of Asylum and Protection at the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) and municipal secretary in Zwolle.

Bouius-Riemersma studied public-private partnerships at Nyenrode University. She also studied HR and obtained her master’s degree in executive change at SIOO.

This appointment to an ABD position was established through the general procedure for positions within the General Administrative Service. The recruitment and selection for this appointment was done by Bureau ABD and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. As usual, the vacancy was widely announced so that everyone could apply.
