With a 3-1 win over BVB, FC Bayern secured their tenth championship title in a row. Before Munich could score the decisive goal, however, there should have been a penalty for Borussia. The referee saw it that way too – after the game.
Referee Daniel Siebert has admitted that he should have awarded the guests a second penalty in the top game in the Bundesliga between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. “Penalty would have been the right decision,” said the 37-year-old to “kicker” about a duel between Benjamin Pavard and Jude Bellingham when the score was 2-1 for Munich.
Siebert: “A technical foul
“In the running duel between Pavard and Bellingham, Pavard tries to slide the ball off his foot with his right leg. This first attempt fails, Pavard does not play the ball, his leg instead represents an obstacle in Bellingham’s path. Technically it’s a coincidence and therefore a foul. The fact that Pavard touches the ball shortly afterwards is irrelevant,” Siebert described the scene. During the game, Siebert decided against a whistle, and the video referee did not respond either.
Bayern had secured their tenth German championship in a row by winning the top game. After the lead by Serge Gnabry (15th) and world footballer Robert Lewandowski (34th), BVB shortened the lead with a penalty kick from Emre Can (52nd). Jamal Musiala (83rd) made the final score.
