Although it has never been a very topical issue, also because such high heat is a fairly recent phenomenon, the ordinary redundancy fund above 35 degrees to protect the health of workers and, at the same time, guarantee them a salary, has existed as a formula since 2017 albeit limited to certain sectors.
What is ordinary redundancy fund?
The so-called Cigo, or ordinary redundancy fund for industry and construction, it is therefore a measure which integrates, if only the activity is reduced, or replaces when the activity stops altogether, the remuneration of the workers concerned. Both reduction and discontinuation must be caused by transient events for which neither the company nor the employees are responsible.

Extreme heat is one of these events and for the request of the CIGO it falls under the reason “weather events”, which also covers the case of frost (we tend to talk about temperatures equal to or below 0°C). How does it work
