In addition, the Pension Fund will now be obliged to inform once every three years women from the age of 40 and men from 45 about the estimated amount of the old-age pension. Citizens will learn about the amount of payments on the “State Services” portal on December 31 of the corresponding year from the moment of the onset of 40 and 45 years.

The law also provides for amendments to the procedure for receiving social benefits. Recipients of pensions no longer need to write applications for additional payments to them. The bodies that establish the additional payment will notify pensioners that they have been assigned an additional payment within five days from the date of the decision.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on May 26, 2021. In March this year, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin expanded early retirement options for teachers, doctors, pilots and firefighters. According to the new rules, employees of these professions will include a period of training and additional vocational education in their length of service. The main condition is that the employee retains his place and the employer deducts pension contributions for the period of education.

Following the 2019 pension reform, women can retire early after 37 years of work, and men after 42 years.
