Reduce electricity costs: With this household appliance, electricity costs can be saved

Warm water as a power guzzler

Whether for cooking, cleaning or for daily personal hygiene in the bathroom, we constantly need warm water in our everyday life. It’s easy to forget that these activities not only use water, but also a lot of electricity. In addition, electricity costs have continued to rise in recent years and people are becoming more interested in finding alternative ways of saving electricity and thus money. So it is advisable to change your electricity provider first, switch to energy-saving lamps and check the power consumption of all electrical appliances in the house. But there is much more you can do to reduce your own electricity costs. This is easy to do with the use of a household appliance that can be found in almost every kitchen: the kettle.

The kettle as an energy saver

Kettles are cheap to buy. Even if many gas and induction stoves can keep up with a kettle in terms of power consumption, they are still very expensive to buy. The kettle can be a cheap alternative, especially for people with an older cooker model who are reluctant to buy a new one. In addition, kettles usually use much less energy than stovetops, according to “myHOMEBOOK”.

Many people are not aware that regular use of the kettle instead of the stovetop or the hot water function of the faucet can significantly reduce electricity bills in the long run. Not using the water heated by the instantaneous water heater in particular minimizes power consumption noticeably.

The advantages of the kettle

The kettle also offers a higher level of efficiency as it switches off automatically as soon as the boiling point is reached when the water is heated. This offers additional safety, since a stovetop usually continues to radiate residual heat for around 20 minutes after it has been switched off. The time aspect also speaks in favor of using the kettle, as it heats the water much faster than the stove. It often only takes about 30 seconds for the water in the kettle to start boiling. In addition, the desired temperature can be set with many newer models, which saves even more time and energy.

You can save even more electricity with these tips

Using the kettle alone is a great way to save money and electricity, but with a few tips you can reduce electricity consumption even further. You should never boil more water than is needed and the cooker should only be filled with the predetermined amount of water. In this way you also prevent the wastage of water. Another tip for saving electricity is to use the temperature controller if you have one and only use warm water instead of boiling water. This prevents the kettle from using electricity unnecessarily to reach the boiling point. Limescale deposits also affect the performance of the kettle, which in turn increases energy consumption. You should therefore descale the kettle at regular intervals.
