Despite an early red card for Roman Tugarinov, Telstar has drawn 2-2 against Helmond Sport. The North Hollanders took the lead twice in North Brabant, but a draw seemed the highest tonight.
Telstar started the away match in Stadium De Braak strongly. Especially the duo Randy Wolters/Rein Smit did well. It was therefore no surprise that they took care of the 0-1. A cross from Wolters’ left was cleverly tapped in by Smit.

Suddenly the game turned upside down when defender Tugarinov took down the breakthrough Aaron Bastiaans. Referee Jesse Rozendal gave the Russian the red card. The number immediately caused problems. Helmond Sport missed a number of opportunities, but goalkeeper Abdel El Ouazzane had no answer to Arno van Keilegom’s shot: 1-1.
Leading with ten
In the second half it was mainly for the Velsenaren to stop. In one of Telstar’s sparse attacks, it suddenly hit. A good combination between Sven van Doorm and Smit ended with the captain. He hit the ball hard into the short corner.
Unfortunately, the White Lions couldn’t enjoy the lead for long. Helmond Sport striker Jelle Goselink scored from a cross by Dylan Seys. At that time, there were 69 minutes on the clock. In the final phase, Telstar managed to pull the draw over the line by hanging and strangling.
