Red skies herald a change in weather, stormy days ahead

The skies above Drenthe turned red, purple, orange and everything in between this morning. Photographer Hans Buls, among others, sent an impressive photo to the editors of RTV Drenthe with the text: “Morning red brings water into the ditch. The harbinger of storm Isha that is coming.”

And those red skies are indeed the harbinger of a major weather change. After a wintery period, we can now prepare for a few stormy days. RTV Drenthe weatherman Hans Nienhuis: “An autumnal week awaits us!”

While code yellow was still in force in the morning due to slippery conditions, code yellow will apply in Drenthe from next night due to the risk of heavy gusts of wind. “There is already an increasing wind this afternoon, but it remains dry. But that is the calm before the storm,” says Nienhuis. “Next night and tomorrow morning we will have to deal with a strong to strong south-westerly wind. This can reach wind force six to seven with a chance of heavy gusts of wind. It will also rain, so it will be a great morning rush hour,” said the spokesperson. weatherman from RTV Drenthe.

Tomorrow afternoon the wind will decrease slightly and with a little bit of sun now and then between showers, that will make the weather a little friendlier.

But on Tuesday there will be a new disruption. “It will bring wind again, which will be strong or even stormy and again heavy gusts of wind are possible,” says Hans Nienhuis. From today the temperature will also rise considerably. “And in the coming days we will really have a temperature bump, with around eleven degrees in the night towards Wednesday. That day the temperature will then slowly drop again. The wind will then decrease and it will become a little drier.”

Weatherman Nienhuis concludes: “It will only become a bit calmer in the second half of the week. Then we will lose that wind again. But for the time being, there is no more winter weather on the way.”
