The Alkmaarse Kanaalkade was the setting for an atmospheric campaign by AZ supporters last night. Around midnight they lit 450 torches and flares, covering the entire quay in a red glow. In doing so, they contributed to the celebration of 450 years of Alkmaar Relief.
Alkmaar Central writes that the countdown started and a few seconds later the quay along the Noordhollandsch Kanaal and the roof of the Karperton parking garage were full of smoke. The police say that the celebration was not announced, but went quietly.
