Red for Schaub after VAR: Paderborn wins late against ten Hanoverians

Despite being outnumbered for 70 minutes, Hannover 96 were on the verge of winning a point in the 2nd Bundesliga – SC Paderborn scored in added time to secure a 1-0 (0-0) victory.

Florent Muslija scored the goal for the hosts (90+1 minutes). The Hanoverian Louis Schaub was sent off in the 20th minute for serious foul play. He had previously seen the yellow card after he got into the game with open soles on the sideline against Marcel Hoffmeier. According to the video images, referee Wolfgang Haslberger corrected his decision and showed the Austrian the red card.

It was the first defeat in the second division after three games for 96, which missed the jump to sixth place.

Paderborn’s Klefisch hits the crossbar early

Paderborn’s Kai Klefisch (2nd) hit the crossbar early with his head. After the sending off, the SCP became increasingly superior with debutants Pelle Boevink in goal and striker Moritz Flotho, but lacked speed and creativity on offense.

In the second half, the hosts increasingly took more risks. Florent Muslija (47th) and Sebastian Klaas (61st) missed good chances. On the other hand, Fabian Kunze (78th) had a rare opportunity for the guests, but allowed himself one catch too many. Paderborn’s Hoffmeier described the success afterwards at the sports show microphone as “victory through passion.”
