Red for Arminia coaches and players: Sandhausen spectacularly defeats Bundesliga relegated Bielefeld

Status: 07/16/2022 3:56 p.m

Bitter start for relegated Bielefeld in the 2nd division: At SV Sandhausen there were no points at 1: 2 (0: 1). And twice more red.

Mission resurgence – that’s the motto of Bielefeld’s Arminia, who don’t want to stay long in the lower house of football after being relegated to the Bundesliga. With four new players in the team, the team under new coach Uli Forte (“The goal is places one to six”) started the game in Sandhausen, where they would have been very satisfied with a healthy midfield position.

Bielefeld hits the crossbar, Sandhausen into the goal

In bright sunshine, both teams at the Hardtwald started cautiously – they wanted to get into the game first. But that didn’t last long – then the beams of the Sandhausen Gate trembled. Florian Krüger pulled from the second row in the 10th minute after Silvan Sidler had just failed with a header.

That could have been Arminen’s lead – but it quickly went in the other direction: The Bielefeld defense could not consistently clear a long ball, Janik Bachmann put the ball through to David Kinsombi, who cheekily tunneled Arminen keeper Stefanos Kapinos – 1 :0 for the SVS (11th minute).

The outsider led and from then on mainly focused on defending. Arminia now had a lot of possession, but always had to watch out for counterattacks by the nimble hosts. It was also a game of nerves – which Arminen coach Forte was apparently not quite able to cope with. In the 44th minute he played a second ball onto the field without motivation. Reaction from referee Michael Bacher: red card. Forte had to go to the stands.

The Arminen received the next low blow shortly after the change of sides. Silvan Sidler extended his arm in a running duel. And because he had yellow before, he now saw yellow-red. Bielefeld was only ten on the field.

Bielefeld equalizes outnumbered

But the team simply refused to give up just like that. After a long drive from Kapion, captain Fabian Klos asserted himself energetically on the left side, put across to Masaya Okugawa, and he didn’t miss the chance. Curved another opponent and pushed in in the 59th minute to make it 1-1.

However, the joy of the unexpected equalizer didn’t last too long: In the 63rd minute it was David Kinsombi again, who netted from a half-right position to make it 2-1 for SV Sandhausen. That was it: Arminia was defeated.

Sandhausen will play in Darmstadt next Friday evening, Bielefeld will host Jahn Regensburg two days later.
