Red Bull Salzburg extended with shooting star Karim Konaté

Long term contract

Karim Konaté will continue to play for Red Bull Salzburg in the future. The Ivorian attacker extended his contract, which originally ran until 2027, by a further year until 2028. The now 19-year-old moved from his home country to Salzburg for the 2022/23 season, where he was first introduced to professional football by the Liefering farm team.

During the winter break, the offensive man was then promoted to the Bundesliga squad after good performances with the second division club. Since then, Konaté has scored nine goals in 591 competitive minutes and provided three assists – that’s one goal every 49 minutes. With four goals this season, Konaté is already leading the Bundesliga top scorers list after four matchdays.

Sports director Bernhard Seonbuchner said about the extension: “Karim has only been in Salzburg for a very short time and has already shown that he has extraordinary abilities. He’s an extremely talented player who we’re fully convinced of and who will definitely continue to develop further. We are very happy to accompany Karim on his way and will do everything we can to celebrate the desired successes together with him.”
