Red Bull Munich loses despite being in the lead

Champion Red Bull Munich is still looking for the consistency of the previous season in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). The team of former national coach Toni Söderholm gave up a 2-0 win in the duel with runner-up ERC Ingolstadt after a dream start and lost 3:5 (2:0, 1:4, 0:1). Munich is now only fifth in the table.

The Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, on the other hand, remain on the wave of success and become the first pursuer of DEL record champions and league leaders Eisbären Berlin. The Lower Saxony team won 3:1 (2:0, 0:0, 1:1) against former champion Adler Mannheim and celebrated their ninth win in a row.

Meanwhile, bottom team Iserlohn Roosters are still struggling under new coach Doug Shedden. In the basement duel against the previous penultimate Düsseldorfer EG, the team from Seilersee lost 1:2 (1:1, 0:0, 0:0, 0:1) in the Canadian’s debut after extra time.

The Kölner Haie beat the Nuremberg Ice Tigers 4-1 (1-0, 2-1, 1-0) and moved past champions Munich into fourth place. The third-placed Straubing Tigers lost 2:3 (0:1, 0:1, 2:1) at Löwen Frankfurt.

Munich was already comfortably ahead after 98 seconds thanks to goals from Trevor Parkes and Sten Fischer, but a failed middle third with four goals conceded within less than five minutes turned the game on its head.
