Mexican F1 star Sergio Perez did himself no favors in the 1st practice of the Hungarian GP.
The Mexican, driving the most powerful car in the pit, got more pressure on his neck for his job when he drove into a tire wall and his car was full in the first lap of practice.
The reason was not the car but Perez’s driving skills. The driving line ran away at high speed to the side of the grass, and the Mexican could no longer correct the situation after that. It was a pure driving mistake.
– I can’t believe this, Perez wailed on the team radio.
Perez’s timing was not the best possible, as Red Bull only recently made changes in the pits and sent their reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo sister stable to Alpha Tauri for the rest of the season. A 28-year-old rookie driver got the shoe Nyck de Vries.
Perez’s opinion was also asked about the driver change. The man’s contract with Red Bull ends only after the 2024 season, but it does not completely guarantee a place in the best team at the moment.
