The Beatles compilations, also known as the Red Album and Blue Album, have returned to the top 10 of the US Billboard charts in the Top Album Sales section. After the records were released in expanded new editions on November 10, 2023, the Red Album (1962 to 1966) made it to sixth place and the Blue Album (1967 to 1970) made it to fifth place.
Sales figures like 1994
Luminate, a system for summarizing sales figures on Billboard, released the works’ sales figures for the week ending November 16, in which the two albums sold a total of 22,000 and 24,000 copies in the US. For comparison: fewer than 500 copies of the works were purchased in the previous week. These are now the highest sales figures for both albums since the week before December 24, 1994, when 37,000 and 40,000 copies were sold respectively.
The success of the Red and Blue Albums was also reflected in the American “Billboard 200 Album Charts”, where the latter work reached first place and the Red Album secured third place.
Originally released in 1973, the Red Album contained 26 songs while the Blue Album featured 28 tracks. In the 2023 reissues, a total of 21 additional songs were added – twelve of them on the Red Album and nine on the Blue Album. The latter also includes the recently released single “Now and Then”, which was completed with the help of artificial intelligence and represents the Beatles’ 35th chart position in the top 10 of the US “Billboard Hot 100”.
“Now and Then” also made it to the top of the charts in Germany. It was even the first number one hit since “Come Together” 54 years ago.
