Recovery before Hungary trip: Flick releases national players

Herzogenaurach (dpa) – Take a deep breath. Before traveling to Hungary for the third Nations League game within a week, national coach Hansi Flick gives the national football players a day off.

Instead of training, free time is on the agenda at the team headquarters in Herzogenaurach this Thursday. Captain Manuel Neuer and his colleagues have many activities to choose from on site. Flick had announced the football rest day right after the 1-1 draw in Munich against England on ZDF.

After five days of training and recovery in Marbella and the games in Italy (1-1) and against the Three Lions, the DFB team is deliberately opting for a short recovery phase. No player will come to the press conference (12.00 p.m.), but DFB director Oliver Bierhoff. On Friday, the focus will again be on preparing for the game on Saturday (8.45 p.m. / RTL) in Budapest. After the final training, Flick flies to the Hungarian capital with his players in the late afternoon.

With a win, Germany could take the lead in the narrow group 3 of the A-League after two draws so far. The Flick selection is currently in third place with two points behind Italy (4 points) and Hungary (3). At the bottom are the still winless Englishmen (1). The June four-pack ends next Tuesday with the home game against Italy in Mönchengladbach.
