SSV Jahn Regensburg won its home game in the 2nd Bundesliga on Saturday (October 22nd, 2022) almost 2-1 (1-1) against SV Sandhausen. Sandhausen’s Aleksandr Zhirov now has a record that nobody wants.
The unlucky raven in the sand houses was central defender Zhirov. He scored an own goal after less than a minute, it was the fourth in his time at SVS since 2018. It was also the fastest second division own goal since data collection began.
Sandhausen was only briefly shocked: Alexander Esswein equalized in the 12th minute. After a cross, Esswein hit the far corner with his outside instep.
Albers rewards Regensburg
The more active team was Regensburg. Albers, who was always wanted, missed the lead after the break from a short distance with a header (53rd). Later he became the man of the afternoon after all.
Albers did better in the 70th minute when he turned around the penalty area and then hit the bottom left corner to make it 2-1 (1-1) the winner. For Albers it was the fifth goal of the season.
After their third home win, Regensburg climbed up to eighth place in the table with 18 points. Sandhausen is still waiting for the first away win of the season after the 13th matchday. Coach Alois Schwartz’s team is 15th in the table with twelve points.

SV Sandhausen has the promoted team from Braunschweig as a guest on the 14th matchday of the second Bundesliga (Sunday, October 30th, 2022 at 1.30 p.m.). Regensburg welcomes Hansa Rostock a day earlier (1 p.m.).
