The Shakespeare Theater in Diever welcomed a record number of visitors this year. The counter now stands at 27,000 visitors for the summer performance Antony and Cleopatra. “This morning we sold the 27,000th ticket,” says director Jack Nieborg.
Niborg is happy with the record. “We still play nine performances and tickets are still available for a few. So the number will be a bit higher,” he responds.
Earlier this summer it was announced that three extra performances were added to the playlist. It comes as no surprise that the previous record of 25,000 visitors would then be broken? “But last year we had already booked extra performances,” says Nieborg.
In short: the new series is a great success, according to the director. “I am very satisfied, the performance is well received. It is really just full house. It is a performance to laugh about, but also to become silent. Both also happen.”
